An Association Management Company (AMC) is a professional firm providing administrative and business services to professional membership associations, societies, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, foundations, consumer organizations and federations. AMCs employ experienced and successful association professionals who are experts in areas such as: meeting and event planning, strategic planning, leadership development, communications, certification and standards, education, government relations and lobbying, marketing, and technology.
M&A, like many AMCs, provides a full array of management services, but can also provide a more limited number of services, tailored to meet the needs of your organization. We can provide specific project work and outsourcing services. You pick the services, and we will deliver them.
Benefits of Contracting an AMC
Contracting an AMC allows your association or organization to share resources such as: professional staff, office space, and supplies.
AMC’s provides experienced staff to meet your organization’s needs as it changes or grows. There is no need to train new staff or incur increased overhead expenses when your organization’s needs change.
AMC’s provide in-house experts for services such as website management and strategic planning and allows for flexibility when you need to adjust the services that your association or organization offers.
AMC Structure & Staffing
Staffing is the responsibility of the AMC. This includes the responsibility of recruiting, interviewing, training, mentoring and negotiating salaries and benefits. At M&A, we ask our clients to complete an annual evaluation and discuss the outcomes, to help ensure that we are meeting expectations.
At M&A, we designate an account manager to serve as your organization’s executive director. In addition, M&A will provide additional staff support to your association or organization as needed. Your members will not be aware that you have contracted with an AMC, unless you wish to communicate that. At M&A, we take steps to ensure that your association has and maintains its own identity.
